It can be that simple
Our original molds and glasses are produced in China. We have an office in Wenzhou that places all our production orders with carefully selected manufacturers by our colleagues there.
This way we can design and control the entire production process from start (raw materials) to finish (shipping to NL).
What does that mean?
Constant monitoring of a safe working environment, compliance with applicable Chinese employment conditions and salary scales (no joke: these are now almost as strict as ours!).
Controlled purchasing of "green" and where possible, recycled raw materials. Phasing out of recycled plastic final packaging (which you throw out after purchase) to "biodegradable" final packaging. We are the first sunglasses manufacturer to do this!
The monitoring of compliance with environmental legislation in China is stricter than ours: for example, every factory must purify its waste water before it is discharged into the sewer. Chemical and residual waste must be demonstrably removed safely and (re) processed.
80% of the production of glasses consists of manual work: from continuous manual control of what is produced mechanically to the assembly of the glasses and their final packaging. We take samples from every production run that we test in our own lab. As an additional check, we send random samples to an independent laboratory. They test the glasses against the current European quality standard.
Of course, all of the above comes with a price. Only if we pay a fair price to the manufacturer we can expect a product that meets our requirements.
And if we didn't check everything ourselves, it might just be that we would be cheaper for "the same" glasses.
"If you see it then you understand" and vice versa of course.
And so we ask our customers a fair price.
You must also know that we are trying to be a transparent brand. Do you have questions, comments or suggestions; Do you want to visit our office, warehouse or our colleagues in China, or visit a factory in China yourself? Let us know!
We'd rather receive e-mails, but you can also call us.
